Thanks again for all your input guys, considering I don't even have my first amp built yet I may be trying to fix something that isn't broke. LOL.

I can't swear to the longevity at 12 volts, I've run it at 12 volts but all my 12 volt supplies had hum so I didn't use them. The safest bet would be to get a regulated 9 volt supply with 3 or more amps. I think the amp is pretty loud on 9 volts. It is what it is, a nice step between what Gitty sells and a 'full size' 20 watt amp.

I'm still using the original wall wart but I'm not plugging any effects into it. I think 12 volts is likely to be OK just make sure that it's a regulated power supply. One amp of supplied power would cover the amp, if you want to plug in effects then go for more output, maybe two amps.

Thanks, Wayfinder and Walt, appreciate your advice, here's the reason I was thinking about kicking up to 12v, I bought 5 of these units a few weeks back, 4 control boards and 1 complete kit, so I started poking around the internet to see how others were setting them up and the majority of the people building amps said ditch the adapter that comes with it and get a 12v claiming it improved the headroom and volume and had less hiss, so my thoughts were, if their using them with no problems…

Like Wayfinder said, use the one specifically for the kit. If you use something else make sure that it is a regulated power supply.

Any advice on what to look for in a 12v wall wart for this setup, I know it has to be center negative, I just get lost in the amp, milliamp,Hz, thing as they seem to vary a lot from one to another and I know zero about electronics.

I guesstimate that the 12 volt lead acid battery would play for 10 hours and you could recharge it with a car battery charger (you would need to watch it closely) there are better options, Grip Tools 38020 12V Automatic Battery Float Charger, $14.50
With six D cell batteries you might get 30 hours of play. Get the Parts Express 4 D cell battery holder, 2 D cell battery holder, and wire them in series. You can use two Snap-type Battery Clip with Wire Leads for 9V Batteries & Battery Holders…

Parts Express: 140-489 12 volt battery $14.98; 090-489 jack with 6' cord, $1.59; 095-806 spade connectors, $4.95
To verify polarity make all of your battery connections to the spades and cord and use a multi meter to check the barrel polarity. Then compare that to the polarity of the supplied wall wart/power supply barrel.
