Sold the one built here for 500 smakers. Working on 2 more currently. For some reason the ser#1013 has an incredible Billy Gibbons- Magnatone sound.
I could put together a kit for those who want to give this amp a try. Punched out sheet metal chassis included. Just leave me a note here & I'll get back to you. So far I've had good luck with the Magnetic Components power transformers. This company is making their stuff in the USA and was the OEM supplier for the Valco way back in the mid 1940s.

Understood. Going over the connections, from those fuses to re-soldering/ re-flowing the circuit board, there is so much stuff to get to just to get it all "taken care of". Even in this tiny amp....but one thing for sure, it would be a sweet re-cycle, that cab.

When I worked as an amp repairmen on the weekends there in Austin, I saw 2 y/o fenders failing with an "intact" input jack. When Fender moved away from SwitchCraft jacks, it was the beginning of the end for their reliability. That's only a single reason why I always take care of my "building block" component selection quality.

The back is barely on right now, so getting it back off will be reasonably simple. I may actually trim it down as I like the option, when recording, of placing a microphone on the back of the cone.

I will attach a schematic I found as well. Things may become obvious when I can finally open it up, or they may not. It it is obvious and simple, I may repair. If I will be chasing gremlins for days, I would rather spend the time building something new. I will post up some updates when I…

With the link I read- a puddy knife is needed to open it up. Maybe not so hard if it's already been opened. A resistor? Maybe in the bias supply, or the cathode resistor, both on the larger side. Looks real sweet from the outside.

A friend who does mainly Fender repair says that almost every amp built from the 80s on has failed in one way or the other within 5 years, especially the newest ones from China. Says that they last a year or 2 at best.

Had not read that one. I think in total for 3 modified versions of this amp, all of which sound good to me, I haw paid less than $200. So not too bad. I even ended up with spare tubes out of the deal.
The speaker does work, the rest remains to be tested. I should actually modify my story of what is wrong. A hiss/humm can be heard, but no sound from anything put into the amp is heard. The guy who sold it said that "you can see a resister or something burned up." I took that to mean there may be…

The guy who sold it said that "you can see a resister or something burned up." I took that to mean there may be a blown cap. We will see. If it becomes a donor I can use the parts from this one to fix my two that I use, though it could also be cool to have a combo for gigging.
So many options.
