Christmas 2015

will be here before we know it !

For any of the new folks here on the Nation, we have compiled an annual album of songs played, composed and sung by our members for the last several years with some great songs!

The primary requirement is that the recording be of good quality, for example, If you are singing, we want to be able to hear your voice!

The 2009 Christmas album contained 23 songs, 2010 Christmas contained 40 songs, 2011 contained 18 songs. More songs is not necessarily better, we had less in 2012 but all the submissions were amazing!, 2013  we had 39 songs, last year in 2014 35 songs for the album came in though we really don't have a limit on the number of songs we can include.

There has been a tremendous response to CB Nation Christmas album submissions in previous years, let's top this year off with with a

CRACKER CHRISTMAS ALBUM!

You can submit a cover of a traditional non copyrighted song, or ideally you can do something you composed yourself  played on your cigar box guitar.

Traditional Christmas carols over 100 years old are ok but due to copyright infringment newer songs like White Christmas, Lonely This Christmas and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree are OUT  i'm afraid!  As the results will be openly advertised, publicised and shared we don't want mean old copyright lawyers knocking on the door on Christmas eve, do we?

Please respond in this thread if you would like to participate!

...and include the song that you would like to have included in the album. Once we have the final album compiled, it will be posted as a free download, and anyone will be able to download it so you will be able to pass the links along to your friends and family!

Hey Steve, I sent mine a few minutes ago. Hope I got the tags figured out! Thanks! This time I'll wait to post a vid until after the album comes out.

nice one Jim!

Steve, ma man, ah sent you mine, yet I'm still not RED! lol  Anyhoo, sending you a better version just finished, so please use THAT one, stead of other one. Will e mail you it in 10 mins :)

received ok now in RED ! thanks Jamie ;-)

:)

I'm in for another round!  I am currently working on a parody of "Bad To The Bone".  Mine is called "Bound For A Throne" and is a different spin on the traditional Christmas story of Jesus' birth.  Even if you aren't religious, I think you'll still like this.

It's been fun working on this parody.  It has pushed me as a slide player for sure.

Parodies are okay to post, correct?  I know that under the Fair Use Act of US Copyright law that a parody is considered a new, derivative work.  You only need to site the original writer/artist.  Both "Weird Al" Yankovic and the Christian band Apologetix both get by without being sued under this clause.

My submimssion, when sent, should be listed as "Chris Dickens & D'Bare Bone Band - Bound For A Throne (parody of "Bad To The Bone" by George Thorogood)

better check its ok with Ben Gitty first Chris

Oh, do you want this project mastered?  I have software and would be willing to work on this as the submissions are coming in.  If you wait until all of them are done, I may not have time to complete them.

that's ok i do all the remastering myself, but if you would like to handle next year's christmas album will be fine with me! just let Dan Sleep ok it before you do, if you would like to :-)

anyone is welcome to have a go at organising it through the proper channels of course, i'm always happy to do it but would not guard the position jealously, i thank you sincerely for your concern Jamie ! :)

Hey, now!  I was just offering to help--not to take over.  So please don't slinging poop like you know me.I only wished to help with the work.  I don't see how offering a helping hand is considered"blowing my own trumpet" or "being full of myself".  I only said that I had software.  I did not say that I was the best person at mastering.  I have little experience there and would have only been doing this to A) help out and B) get more experience.  Thanks for being a judgmental jerk, Jamie, and for ruining even being on the compilation for me.  You've taken something that was fun last year and enjoyable enough to want to do it again and made it a blight.

Sorry looking back at post, Chris. I wasn't on last year's album due to health. I did not know you were on it. If I did, I would not have come across so strong. I thought you were a brash newbie! In defense, your posts did seem to invite this interpretation. I see now this was more enthusiasm than brashness ! Maybe I shoulda thunk more before I posted, but I saw it as a slight on Steve, and was probably not only one to think this.
Soooooo, perhaps misunderstanding all round. I'm willing to put in past, hope you too. And please DO submit song to album. It's always been open to all, in true Xmas spirit. And I DO apologise for denting your Xmas. Btw, you DO know, Chris, that Steve is ma grandad ? ;) Btw , we will not be the first or last to have spat on Nation, but we DO usually put things behind us. So, in a brotherly way ( no dates) here's a kiss x ps my original posts deleted. XMAS page not place to argue, ah guess :)
