Hi all!

I'm in the planning stages of a baritone build, probably a fretless around 28", and I will probably use a PAF for the main pup, but might put a piezo in, too. So, my question is, has anyone used a separate output jack for each pup rather than volume or blender pots? I remember back in the 70s and 80s stereo guitars were a big thing but I never played on. Anyhow, as always, all advice appreciated.

Im on my 5th build. As of now I have been using pre-wired pickups I’ve gotten off of cbgitty. I bought some black humbucker type pickups and a three way pickup KMISE harness. The harness is wired together. I need help on where to solder the pickups to the harness. Yes I’ve looked all over for diagrams but it’s all confusing. The pickups are the FOXNOVO professional sealed humbuckers. They have one wired (one is black and the other pickup has a red one) inside the wire is a braided wired and…

Hi everyone,

I've made a couple of induction pickups like the ones in the first set of images in this discussion:

They seem to work well, but it's difficult to solder the parts together. I'm finding that I have to hold my soldering iron onto the thick copper wire and the prongs of the transformer for a surprisingly long time before I can get solder to melt onto them. I assume that the thick wire and the coil inside the transformer are acting as heat sinks. Even when I do get the solder to melt, it never seems to flow as easily as it does when soldering smaller wires and pots and the like, and the resulting joints are prone to breaking. Has anyone else had this problem? My soldering iron is a pretty cheap one from Radio Shack, so I wonder if it's a bit underpowered. Should I consider getting a nicer soldering iron, or is this just the nature of the beast?

Hello from cool Halifax, Nova Scotia

Building my second guitar but learning to play still number one.

I was wondering if someone can tell me when you install a pickup, I'm installing a 3 pole pickup I bought from CB Gitty (love that site), should it be level with the fret board or frets?

Thanks

Rupe Power
New pickup ideas, may have been done before. Let me knowtag:www.cigarboxnation.com,2017-04-21:2592684:Topic:28512532017-04-21T05:07:25.455ZJerryrig240https://www.cigarboxnation.com/profile/Sam

So this is the design I am thinking of for my new rig. I am still working out the bugs, this was the first time I even tried it out on the bench. So bare with me.

I was thinking flap pup design, and I always thought it would be cool to make a pup that you could hide all of the coil in the box and just have the magnets on the top.

I was thinking flap pup design, and I always thought it would be cool to make a pup that you could hide all of the coil in the box and just have the magnets on the top.

So was at home depot and picked up some metal strapping for air duckting, and wrapped some wire around it, hooked up a jack and some magnets and I get a real faint signal. Part of the reason I think is my coil is pretty weak. I just hand wrapped it a few times just to try it out.

The reason I was wanting to do this was, I could cut a small slit of the lid of my cigar box, run the bottom piece of the metal strapping inside the box, with coil wrapped around the strapping inside, or I think I may just wind some small sewing bobbin coils and attach them to the strapping, fold the strapping down on the box lid on the outside, add the magnets and hot glue or fasten the strapping to the top of the lid with screws

The strapping is under 2 bucks for a pretty good size roll, you could make several pickups out of just one roll.
,

this strapping is kinda weird, because it has holes and then a set of slots, but I think we can come up with something. The the coil wires can be hooked up in the box, and too the jack, no fuss no muss.

I was thinking sewing bobbins, or maybe just a fat bolt wound with wire, or a large coil wrapped with wire, or something of a kind of coil in the box, any size you want. Attach the strapping to the coil and add magnets. I think I might pick up some sewing bobbins and some bolts tomorrow at wally world. Let me know what you guys think, or maybe calibrate on the design, or let me know if someone has all ready tried this. Thanks for looking. Hope this sparks some new ideas.
What do you mean with «sounds great»?tag:www.cigarboxnation.com,2016-04-22:2592684:Topic:25783002016-04-22T17:48:15.031ZMoritz Voegelihttps://www.cigarboxnation.com/profile/MoritzVoegeli265

Let's take my 4-string CBG from a Camacho box as an example: acoustically it doesn't sound at all, but with two Power Rails from GuitarFetish even with a simple amp with volume and gain only it sounds great. With the idea to learn from each other, let us know, how your CBG sounds without an amp and with which pics it sounds great. What do you think about this idea?
