Event Description

Hi builders and players,

We had a good meeting of the Carlinas Box Guitar Club at Big Al's Pub and Grubberia on 10/28.  Six attended and we made some music in the new venue.  Everyone likes Big Al's.  We meet in a separate room from the main seating area and bar.  The food is very good and reasonably priced.  We talked about the parameters involved with sizing guitar strings.

The next Carolinas Box Guitar Club meeting, #23, will be the 2nd Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Big Al's Pub & Grubberia, 9306 Albemarle Road Charlotte, NC 28227 704-567-2333. Behind Rite Aid At The Corner Of Harrisburg and Albemarle Roads. It is 100 feet back from Albemarle Rd and across Albrmarle Rd. from the Good Will store.

If the venue doesn't have a prior reservation, we will continue having a monthly meeting on the first Saturday of each month. Our purpose is to help members develop skills to build and/or play the 12-bar Blues on their 3-string, fret-less, electric, box guitars. We currently have 22 on our email list. We also have some members working on and playing 6-strings and harmonica.

Bring a your new projects for show and tell. As usual we will discuss individual building and playing issues. For our monthly playing topic, we will try and play a shuffle beat for a 12-bar blues chord pattern. We may try and play along with "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Muddy Waters. I think several of the Blues Jam musicians will attend to help with our jamming.

We should have a video camera at the next meetings to record our jam for the members that couldn't attend.

This should be another exciting meeting in the new location.

Fred
