February 25th, Bill Jehle's Cigar Box Guitar based group - Nadaband will perform and push the sonic boundaries of these simple instruments. Jehle will also be there to talk about the history of these simple instruments and sign his recently published work on their history, "One Man's Trash: A History of the Cigar Box Guitar."

For additional booking and vendor information, please contact Kelsey Sullivan (www.oldalabamatown.com), or contact me... Bill Jehle for more information. :)

Current Exhibit:
On exhibit right now in the Reception Center lobby is a collection of Cigar Box Guitars. They are on loan from local Alabamians who have an interest in making and playing the instruments with roots to Alabama folk music.

  • Folks, I know this is short notice. Montgomery is my hometown and I'm going to put everything I've got into this one.

Steve Webb (also from the Huntsville area like me) is going to come down, sell his wares, lead a CBG building class or two.

I'd like to get some shade tree pickin' going on before the big show, and I'd also like to get at least one or two other groups to perform for the "really big shoe" at the end of the event.

Let's pull off something big, the likes of which Old Alabama Town has never seen. I want them to realize that they could turn this into an annual event!
