Nation Etiquette. Posting a bunch of videos at once. :(

Okay, there are no rules, but there should be some etiquette, manners, respect and thinking before we do something. And yes, I fail at this from time to time.

I am annoyed when someone posts more than a couple videos at once. Doing so prematurely knocks other people off the video section of the home page. Once off the main page, many people never look to see them. Not cool. People want there efforts to have an opportunity to be noticed.

Kind of the same thing when some posts large numbers of photos at once.

What do you think on this? What have you got to say on related matters?

I'm sure it is done without knowing, but I'm sorta with you. If the vid isn't on the home page, I'll likely only see it if brought back up in comments on the Recent Activity side of the screen. Linking a bunch of YouTube videos is probably better for a forum or blog post than a bunch individuals.

How do you let the newer members know? I doubt anyone will see this forum post before posting another baker's dozen.

Thankfully, it only happens once every couple months. Unless I missed something because it got knocked off the home page. :)

Hi Uncle John.

You make a very good point. Let's hope people read your message and take notice. I also think it goes agains the mass poster. If I see many videos from one person I am unlikely to leave comments on all of them. I may not even watch all of them. By spreading them out a bit I think that they would each get more attention, thereby better rewarding some talented players.

I agree,

although I just put my vids up as samples for the boys and girls in uniform so they can see what they are getting I always feel bad even posting those up so you have to listen to my crappy playing.

One vid every couple days is good for us hardcore members.........

I hear ya. I admit I am bad about checking videos, but do check out pics every day and get the same thing some times.

As far as video uploads, I will only do one to sound check the build and get suggestions from everyone.. that's usually one a month or two tops. The less I subject everyone to this mug, the better!

Henry, your playing is fine and your cause is excellent. More! John, I think you are right. People don't view as often if people mass post.

I am probably just a COB (Crabby Old Bee word of your choice) today because I broke 3 high E mandolin strings. Poor peg head design on my part.

I do a lot of vids and photos, but I try not to have 2 on the home page at one time. The guy who posted 10 today has cool stuff. He probably just didn't realize the deal for others.

I agree and would like to add that its nothing against the poster, who (with very few exceptions) have good intentions.

I would also like to extend the idea to the music player. A couple songs at a time please! And mix it up a bit! All one similar artist and style kind of ruins the purpose to me. Oh and it should not be the place to post your favorite playlist of commercial copyrighted music either! Tsk. tsk!
