Howdy,
My home built amp has been fun but....looking to get a 'store bought' amp to plug my cigar boxes into. I'm pretty sold on the Micro Cube and I keep reading here on 'the Nation', folks urging others to get themselves one for under a 100 bucks.
Okay, I'm game. But I can't seem to find one new anywhere for under about 130 bucks. Anybody out there know of any sales any where on the aforementioned item?

mine was 100.00 many years ago now, 5?---inflation rules, you might have to bite the bullet...as well as petrol and shipping costs for the vendors....had I money I'd get a second for vocal mic..the batteries last a long time......6 AA have you checked ebay? alot of new merch has reached that venue in HARD TIMES.....always buyer beware tho......always stick with sellers with 100 rating,,,I once ordered a tascam......the unit arrived and was "returned merch"--i peeled the ship label, tracked down a warehouse, called manager there with serial # got the lowdown, yes, proving it was returned/wiped down/shipped as new merch!....I then took the seller to task with threats of fraud...
ebay is hosting alot of NEW stuff.....I prefer your local dealer, they need the bucks@@.....ask for a discount!!, always! Cash talks!! these are SLO times, they might take your offer of 100.00 to have the $.
Laurie,
I bought a micro cube from Overstock.com Wednesday morning for 109 plus 2.95 shipping. They have them in black, red and white but say there is moderate risk of them running out. Everywhere else I looked it was priced 129.00 and that was before taxes, shipping and handling. If you're looking for another micro cube that may be the best deal and I'm hoping more reputable/honest than dealing with eBay vendors. I've had a couple of bad experiences with eBay purchases, more good than bad but still, I feel there's often an element of risk.
I'm only still kicking the idea of rebuilding an amp I made just to see how cheap I can build one that's worth using. But for the effects included with the roland, the Vox Da5 and the Line 6 Micro spider which seem to be priced about the same by the time you gathered all the parts necessary to assemble a practice amp with most or all the same effects you'd be considerably over the price of purchasing one of those amps new. You might get lucky and find one at a pawn shop or craigslist where you can turn it on and see/hear it before you buy it and maybe talk the seller.
Love the $2.95 shipping!, almost like a token amount LOL....sent ground or parcel post anywhere usa, i think likely to cost at least 20.00....
here is one of my old fav YT vids....hehe....same user has a newer one up in which he and a bud stroll the streets knockin' down the bluesriffs (microcube tour).....good clean fun...........
I had a micro cube, but went to a Vox DA5, it has a much better speaker and power settings that switch from 1.5watt,2.5, and full 5 watt. Also you can control the effects with 2 tweeking knobs also a better range of model amp settings. Runs 20hrs on batteries at 1.5 watts and still 15hrs on the higher settings-used by Seasick Steve too.
Vox seem to have recently introduced a new portable amp called the Mini3 (see http://www.voxamps.com/uk/mini3/). I guess it's possible that's going to be a replacement for the DA5 - the two are very similar although the Mini3 seems to have a greater range of sounds and effects.
Both the DA5 and Mini3 seem to be available at the moment in stock new at Amazon over here (in the UK).
Here's a review of the Mini3

GC and musician's Friend are showing the Vox DA5 as discontinued. Amazon has only used ones. after watching Laurie's vid, i'm impressed with the Roland's portability. Loved the "tour"!
The Da5 appears to come up as still available here in the states if you search it. Price ranges in the 120-140 $ range.
The Mini 3 appears to be a smaller version listed as 3 watts w/ 5" speaker and lots of effects listed on the site below as retailing @ about 90 bucks.

"the tour", is awesome!!...'.specally the lil "cameo" in front of the police dept! LOL --how to win over your neighbors attests to volume level....it has alot of settings I NEVER use,,,mostly I was impressed with the battery life....take camping and have a ton of fun----great for anyone busking.....roland makes a small two input amp, but price is high--and don't know if it has the portability factor or not...I don't have the fun money, inherited my Moms Fender keyboard amp...it's super, light,..bright..2 input..I'm set for amps,...the roland is long life batt op, it's biggest plus........and STURDY, too!

After reading some buyer reviews, about the Line 6 micro spider and the Roland Micro Cube, I bought the Micro Cube on Ebay for $99.00 (shipping included). I got it today, plugged it in and I must say that I really do like it. It does have a lot of volume, and the special effects sound good (that was the rap on the Line 6 micro spider, that the special effects didn't sound that good).
I have a pignose....basically because they are "traditional".
Cheaper than a Roland, probably because they are less sophisticated, but the sound is great (IMHO), and they match well with a cbg.
I have a pignose too. I was just looking for something that had effects with it, so I would have to drag around peddles.
