This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Me too! Good thread you guys got going here. Thanks!

Paul, Allparts has both OEM vintage & new lipstick pickups for $35, check out their site?

Brian The Allparts Lipstick Tube pickups for Dano replacement are original spec, but won't fit my Strat. I probably get them anyway because the other pickup they offer for Strat mount are wound to 6k and everyone else doesn't have vintage spec or want $60 to $90 bucks for them. So I'll get these and figure out a way to mount them.

Another problem is the length of the tube is longer than the pickup slot in a Strat pickguard, but so are all the Strat mount types I've looked through.

The Gitty Foundry Tone lipstick Tube pickups are vintage wind, but the magnets are ceramic. Good pickups, just not what I'm looking for.

The Allparts site says the the Dano is a Original replacement and the winding is in that ballpark(4k), but no mention of magnet type. All the pickups I've ordered from them have been Alnico 5 so far so it's probable to be that type.

Curtis Novak has a vintage set and a hot set for Strat that actually fits the Strat pickguard, but they're $100 a piece. Novak makes correct spec Gold Foil pickups just like the originals with the rubber magnets and they sound like the originals, but pricey.

Paul, I can confirm that LP1 pickup has a warm, yet jangly vintage tone to it, like the originals?  Lots of people say they’re pricey, but Allparts sells genuine OEM parts. So you know you’re getting the correct part? Not all parts are priced equally, but genuine Fender/Gibson parts are always top dollar, they already have a MSRP on them, so they can’t lower the price so much? Certain brands are kinda like buying a Mercedes, none of the replacement parts will be cheap?

I posted earlier in HTML Editor mode and it decided not to post for a second time. Still having issues trying to reply to some peoples post.

Those Allparts pickups are the right spec, but not Strat mount.
Stewmac's Golden Age are right on for $55 a piece, but they're on back order.
Sweetwater had the Seymour Duncan and I had credit so I ordered a set of 3 for a Strat.

Mojotone has a good one for the Strat, but they’re pricey just for the fact that they’re made by SRV’s tech Rene Martinez, $69-129 range? Great tone tho!

I got my wings to the Reverse Firebird build glued together and today I got the neck-through piece glued together. 4 - 1" x 4" x 4' Red Oak boards clamped, glued and screwed together.

Hey Brian, Rene used to make those pickups for Fernandez Guitars USA too. I looked their for them, but they're closed up. Those pickups he makes are fantastic.

I think the next thing on my workbench is going to be clean up day. yay

experiment with an Ebay Piezo preamp and under saddle pickup. preamp box also has a microphone to pick up the acoustic sound. mic and piezo can be blended.  replaced the missing nut. just needs the saddle to be filed down and some new strings. all up this has cost me less than $90 AUD.
