Todays builds have been an experiment in tunings and scale lengths. Light strung instruments are something that interests me and am now building more and more them and these 3 today are just the beginning.

all 3 instruments  are made using Fox's Biscuit Tin Tins (Don't know if you guys in the US have Fox's Biscuits, quite popular here in the UK), are all of a similar size and shape and all three have the same strings; a 10, a 13 and a 17, but none play or sound alike.

one is a Plectrum 3 stringer; for those who do not know, plectrum guitars are usual 4 string instruments with a 27 inch scale and DGBE tuning. mine has the 27 scale, but with DBG open tuning, very bright tone. One is a much more standard, with EBE tuning and a 25.5 scale, not as bright, but a pleasant tone. and the last is more akin to a Tenor Instrument, at most it has a 24 inch scale, which I shorten for more Tenor tones and a DAD tuning. with the shorter scale the strings don't feel as loose with the lower tuning.

I am very pleased with these builds and look forward to experimenting with similar ones later in the summer. I have one in mind, a 4 Stringer with 16, 12 and 9 gauge strings, but I have 2 9 gauge strings tuned in unison, similar to that of a 4 String Dulcimer.
