This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

With each guitar I make I try something different. This build is no exception. Just spent about a half hour using scrunched aluminum foil to scrape glue off of a large piece of plastic. Glued to the front of the guitar. Then there's a piece of paper. Printed then sprayed with an acrylic sealer on both sides. Also glued to the front of the guitar. Going to give this a day to cure. Then start the finish. May to take a long time to dry between coats. Because of the pattern in the plastic.

Don't mind taking chances with a build. The only real expense is the spray paint. Not like I used it all. But it's one ugly color. Can't see me using it around the house. The ply is stuff i got for free. The neck and all the electronics can be moved. And there is always the option to sand the body back down to ply and start over.

I'll give the name but no pics. Not yet. 'Radio Active'.

Now I'm curious - how long until we get the photos???????????

Because of the texture of the plastic I'm using the drying time of the brush. When the brush I washed out is dry I'll put the next coat of polycrylic on. So it's going to take a bit of time to get a few more coats on the body.

Nice build Fantacone. Lefty?

Hey Hooch, that book came with the Fine Woodworking (USA) magazine many years ago.

BACK TO THE BENCH !

Bought this old Zenith a couple of years ago to rebuild.Went to pick it up a couple of days ago and noticed the headstock pulled away, think it's a previous poor repair.Oh well back to the workbench!

I haven't seen a neck joint done that way before. After you glue it back together, you might consider drilling a hole through from the side and glueing a dowel or putting a steel pin in it to reinforce it.

It's the first I have come across, good idea pinning the joint ,think I'll use two though.

That’s how you fix a broken Gibson headstock, Pinning for reinforcement?

Hi, I'm bit late here. I have used that type of joint when repairing or replacing a  new peghead. It look like a previous bad repair going by what looks like excess glue there. I reinforce the joint in a different way as I have done here, but one has to use different methods for different situations.

Other than lifting bridges, this might be my next most popular repair.........
