This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

5 to 8 gallon. otherwise it never shuts off. get all the goodies. mostly the water separator. i fill mine up after each use and slowly undo the petcock at the bottom, to blow the water our. seems i'm filled with a bit of hot air these days.

Place I used to work at had a 60gallon tank and the automatic bleed for the petcock stopped working. It had a lot of water build up in it the tank and then the temp dropped to around 20 degrees and busted the tank because it sat outside by the building. Boss was not happy.

what a drag. Hope his welding skills were up to par.

Paul, Happy Birthday. Congrats on your new shop tools, hope you post a photo.

I spend my life on the table saw. Stuff you already know: ditch the blade that came with the table saw, get a nice narrow kerf with 64 teeth. get a reinforcing washer for it, usually about 5'' in diameter. get or make a zero clearance insert. you put it in and raise the blade though it, so cool, can cut slices thinner than 1/16th. put a piece of foam or something behind the saw, to catch the small slice kickbacks. never stand behind the blade. (ask me how i know). your new saw probably has all kinds of safety features. take most of that crap off, it's like when they choked all the good engines in the 70's for smog control. any way, i'm preaching to the choir i'll bet.

Kudos.

Thanks, those are good points to try out.

This was cut with a home depot 64 tooth carbide Diablo. not thin kerf, but loves hardwood.

Good for making veneer.

Only reason I'd cut hardwood that thin is for a shim. What makes yo sweat is squaring up a piece of ebony, saw raised high, to cut a 1/4 piece for a six string.

Thought about getting a scroll saw for extra fine cutting.

Dewalt makes a nice one. I procured one a long time ago but haven't gotten good at it yet. Had some technical difficulties (getting the blade clamped in the lower clamp), so I got frustrated and haven't gotten good at it yet. Need a lot of patience, which I don't have, but it's still there waiting for me. (the saw has the patience). I used to do a lot of scroll cutting with metal and a jewelers saw, lost my edge with that also.

Try taking off the table, it makes life so much easier.

Hey Kool Dog, if i take off the table, what do i do, just freehand the cut?
