Congratulations on your first build.

What is the tuning scheme? I notice that the frets are spaced more like a dulcimer than a guitar.

The wood on the box looks great!

Is it electrified?

Tuned to DAd
The fret layout is diatonic
Yes it is electrified
It sounds really good

Thanks for clarifying the tuning and scale.

Diatonic tuning is common on dulcimer while chromatic is more common on guitar.

What led you to choose diatonic tuning? Is it more fitting with the type of music you play?

Regardless, it is a great looking instrument. Post a short music clip when you get a chance. Would love to hear it.

I have built several dulcimer's and quite a few strum sticks, I never could get the hang of playing a guitar, but I am able to play the dulcimer really well.

I became very comfortable with the diatonic scale of the dulcimer and decided to make the Cigar Box Guitar the same way, I would really like to be able to play a Cigar Box Guitar with a chromatic scale, but I am very illiterate when it comes to reading any kind of sheet music or figuring out the chords.

With the diatonic scale I strum the strings while fretting the smallest string on the instrument, I play using tabs.

Makes perfect sense, Ron.

If you are proficient with the diatonic scale, then that's the scale to use. It's all about having some fun.

That being said, with your current DAd tuning, you are right in the heart of CBG tuning. Playing chromatic scale with this tuning is fairly easy.
