If you like please post a SHORT explanation of how you got the CBG building, playing addiction.

I had many guitar parts, maybe enough to build 5 or 6 guitars. While in a smoke shop that had a walk in humidor and I saw my first cohiba red dot box and bought it not for a guitar but a just a stash box.

Few days later at a large garage sale bought a guitar body with neck for $6. When I laid the guitar on the bench next to the box the light came on RTZ#1 . First guy to play it like it so I gave it to him.

Then I found this site while trying to put a Smoky Amp in a Acid box and learned about the 386chip.  In 8 years I have built about 34 sting instruments with the help of ya'll thanks.   RTZ

Thanks Francois, something to do on down time on the cheap best reason vet.

I blame Red Dog.

Red Dogs fault,  your not alone thanls S.H.

Addiction? What addiction? I can stop any time I want to!

Ya ya keep telling yourself that Jim see you @ the Wednesday Night Meeting.

Well... there is a sticker on those boxes that says that "this product can be addictive". ;-)

I must say that being addicted to empty boxes is better for anybody's health than being addicted to tobacco :-)

Fun topic and answers.  I think I caught it off a toilet seat.

No, that wasn't it.  I think it was a video by Darren Dukes.  I built a couple and could not do too much with them.

Then I lurked on CBN  for a while wondering "Is there a catch - are there strings attached?"  Then I found  knotlenny's great lesson and later lessons by Red Dog and Keni Lee Burgess.

Thanks to Build-Stop and cold weather, I have not built any new CBGs for several months.  I have done some re-building and modifying and hope to get out in the shop tomorrow.

Thanks John, truth is I have not built in months either. Couldn't play or build got frustrated took everything of the bench guitar related.  Thar's why I came up with this port. Sold some guitars to pay for the tools I bought to build from rough stock so i'll get back at it soon.

Keni, another Red Dog and Knottlenny.     Muckland Crooners and a burn barrel pass the jug

Yeah... talk about cold weather...

I spent two hours picking a thick 1½ inch slab of ice from the sidewalk and I'm only half way done. We're at the beginning of the first of two major snow storms that will hit us this week. My car was stuck in a rut at the bottom of the driveway and I had to call the Canadian Auto Association to pull me out of there...

At least there is heat in the garage... So I'm finishing building an old project and then I'll get back to building music stuff... I do have an good collection of old phone parts so I might try my hand at building a nice mic...

2 nails a 2x4 and old pick

I saw Bemuzic playing in Cambridge.  I like building stuff, I like musical instruments and I thought that 3 strings might be easier than the 6 that I was used to.  Wrong.  I had played acoustic when younger but never really translated that ability to electric.

I have now built quite a few instruments - the latest being ukes. I picked up a uke at a neighbo(u)r's house and I really enjoy playing them.  I like building them but don't like the clutter so I tend to give them away to people.  I still enjoy it and will probably build a few more when the garage warms up.

She is the real deal cbg player builder .  I got the Uke bug a few years back too
