Hi wade,

Typical woods for the pegs are rosewood or ebony... I'm installed pegs in necks made of mahogany and oak and maple...

But, I've always used manufactured pegs and reamers...

hey brother you can buy these at a real good price in rosewood or ebony go to e-bay and look up bezdez and look them up, way cheaper than trying to make them. i think you can get two sets which is eight pegs for about 12 bucks. tell them the bairfoot cajun sent you if you buy some. the company is in canada,not the usa.
