This is a pretty cool chord / scale generator. You can specify the tuning and number of strings, and it

includes all of the normal modes and scales, including some exotic ones. It comes out like this:

Great spot, and it even does UKEs - Thanks
Wow, that IS handy, I'm starting to play cello like an upright bass.
Cool Diane. I've heard of people doing that with a cello. It's more portable than an upright, and acoustic bass guitars just can't keep up with a regular strummed guitar in volume.

I'm planning to build something like the "canotto" with some 1/8" ply I have in the shed:

Feel free to beat me to it!
I think I broke it. How'd you get the three strings? The custom button doesn't seem to work for me.
Click Instrument --> "Custom"
Under "Tuning Notes" enter "A,E,A" (with commas, no quotes)
Click "Set"

Go to "Scale" or "Chord" and pick a root and whatever scale or chord you want.

BTW, it doesn't show you a single chord fingering or scale pattern, it just shows you where all the notes are located so you can figure out your own voicing / fingering.
