My thoughts and opinions as I drink my second PBR with spicy hot V8 juice.   PBR and spicy hot V8 juice.  Cheap and good.  Like CBGs.

I see a decline in the numbers of videos and photos posted on CBN.   Is interest decreasing?

I have a shit-load of opinions on this, but right now, I want to hear what you think.  What is the state of the CBG world and where is it going?

Good on yer, Woody.

Too many people selling $65 fully fretted guitars on eBay. I just sold that vegafina four stringer that I poured my heart and soul into, and the guy complained it didn't have frets and the action was high. Dickhead never asked a question about the guitar once. People just don't get cbg's sometime. Let the numbers decrease if the quality of people increase. I will love cbg's til I dead, and most likely be buried with one in my cold dead hands.

I love what you just said here, Jason.  Me too.  I will do other things but never quit playing CBGs and maybe never quit building.  There is not 'significant' monetary profit in building and selling for most of us.  We should build only because we want to.

Don't think so, Unk. Life always throwing things up, sometimes us older guys gotta divert energy elsewhere now and then; being a young pup yourself, you might not understand! (PS loan us $100 ?  ).   ;)

Yup.   Well said.

I have been spending time showing my work at different venues and readying myself for a few shows later in the summer. Preparing for and attending events sure eats into build time! The upside...I have been invited as a vendor to The Pitchfork Festival, a 3 day  alt/indie music fest in Chicago (Beck is the headliner) and offered a free booth at a vintage guitar show in August. I will be able to spend the next 2 months building so you will see some stuff from be pretty soon!

Damn I wish someone would invite me to vend at pitchfork. How'd you pull that one off?

Jason, My guitars are built like CBGs but I make custom bodies. They could be considered "art guitars" although they  are very playable. Much of what I make involves "found" or recycled/upcycled materials. I have been showing at unusual venues that aren't necessarily music related and was seen by the woman that heads the bazaar at Pitchfork. Hopefully the crowd will still have money to spend after they buy their tickets!

really ,  i  dont think  there is a  decline  in   intrerest,  ,,  just   a  boost  in  other areas  .. spring is  here  , people are  starting outdoor  projects ,  buying garden   tractors,   and doing   yard work and  honey-do lists  . and on the other side of the  coin  ,  i  happen to  be so  busy  filling swamp witch orders ,  that i   am  not   doing a  video  demo  for each  .  mostly  just for  the  members  here at the moment  . its too  time consuming  when you  have  8  or  9   guitars waiting in line  .

also ,  tis  fest season   , many builders are busy   making  inventory  to  take to  fests  etc  .. no  time to  post a bunch of stuff  here  .

as  for  selling  on  here  .and selling   online .  and   recent   post  and discussions  about the   dificulty  selling  ,  etc etc  ..  i  seem to  be the exception  to  the  rule  . many  of my  customers are  builders   themselves , many  of my sales are   on   cbn  ,

i  think one  would have to  look  at opinions   in answers   here    as   their opinion of (what the  answerer  can  or  can't  do  ,,  or  has   or hasn't done  .) .   ,  not what can't  be  done  .

and some  may  see  lack in activity here  and think     there is   a  loss  of  intrerst  .. while others  are  so  busy  filling that interest   that they   dont see  the  lack  of activity here  ,  (because they are not   on  here as  much)

sometimes a  lack of activity here  ,  means a boost  in activity  in  the  workshop.

Yeah, Pick.  I think Gitty is busy with sales of parts and selling instruments too.

indeed  ;-) and  on his way to  a  fest  also  ;-)

During the winter months I post daily. But @ summertime it starts to spread out because I'm out playing the instruments more than recording. Lots of people playing, building, buying and selling cbg-style instruments in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley. My great grandfather did stuff like this... sadly, no recordings :-(
