UPDATED: 2013 Cigar Box Nation Builder's Contest Results

Being a personal fan of the Steampunk genre and of industrial/mechanical-themed art in general, scrolling through the list of this year's entries is really a treat. Once again I am blown away by the creativity and ingenuity of the builders who congregate on CBN, and I certainly don't envy the hard choices the judges had to make.

First Place ($250.00 prize pack): Tom Thompson
Second Place: ($125.00 prize pack): Michael Naiman
Third Place: ($75.00 prize pack): Graeme
Fourth Place: ($50.00 prize pack) John Bernyk

Note: Keith Alan, the original first place winner, has chosen to withdraw his entry, so we have bumped everyone up one step.

Congratulations to all the winners. I'm glad I didn't have to judge this contest, there are some amazing builders out there in the Nation and I will admit that I'll probably glean a few bits of inspiration from this bunch of builds for future projects. Time to get out into the shop and start working on my next build!

Congratulations to the winners, very nice job done by all and well deserved. Thank you to everybody at Cigar Box Nation for running the competition and making such an opportunity for everyone to have great fun with a passion we all share. I may not have won, but boy did I have fun building. Probably the finest piece I have built to date, which I doubt I would have built without this event.

I had a blast building for this challenge! I knew I wouldn't win, but I wanted to compete! There were many amazing entries! Congratulations to the winners! Their builds were amazing! Thanks to C. B. Holy Smokes!! I’m very honored and surprised at winning 2^nd place in the builders contest!!

Congratulations to winner Keith Allen! Your guitar is very unique and quite an eye catching design!

Also, congratulations to Michael Naiman and Graeme Peatfield for their awesome and winning designs.

I enjoy looking at all of the entries, a very impressive and inspirational collection of instruments and builders.

(SPAWG) was my fourth CBG instrument build and my first steam punk design. I started building CBG's in September 2013 and have made one per month. I’ve never really built anything before, unless you count the wobbly three legged stool in 8^th grade shop. Now I pretty much live and breathe CBG’s since I retired in July and spend hours educating myself on Cigar Box Nation.

Thank you to everyone here for your friendliness and willingness to share your knowledge. I look forward to learning much more about building these addictive instruments.
