I know some of you built these 3-string guitars thinking 6 was too many...then we, I mean You got to thinking... dang, 3 is a bunch too!
Well, as luck would have it, I'm gonna help my FD partner's daughter build a 1-stringer for a school project. I thought "sure would be nice if I could teach her a lil' diddy to play on it" problem is...yep. I can't play for crap....but, me can google! I found a couple of really simple one string tunes that I'll lay on ya. Aint no double-stops or hammer-on-whack-offs, just one string+one finger. Make up your own excuses for learning them, but they can be fun and will make a kid smile...(big ones as well)

Happy Birthday - of course:
0 0 3 0 6 5 - 0 0 3 0 8 6 - 0 0 10 6 6 5 3 - 11 11 10 6 8 6
Mary had a lil Lamb:
4 2 0 2 - 4 4 4 - 2 2 2 - 4 7 7 - 4 2 0 2 - 4 4 4 4 - 2 2 4 2 - 0
Seven Nation Army (White Stripes)
7 7 10 7 5 3 2 over & over
Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple)
0 3 5 0 3 65 0 3 5 3 0 you know the tune...

These are just the fret positions, if you know the tune you'll be rockin in no time. My finger hurts sooo good :)

Just a small correction...at least the version of Happy Birthday I've always sung is...
0 0 2 0 5 4 - 0 0 2 0 7 5 - 0 0 12 9 5 4 2 - 10 10 9 5 7 5
Sounds a bit less "slasher movie" this way.
Maybe that's why the kids cry at my parties....

Me likes that version better :)
LOL. Actually you are spreading the truth. In the majority of Bottleneck arrangements, the slide work is on the first string. Learning to hear better by matching the tones you sing with the notes found on the fingerboard is a great way to learn to play. The challange certainly comes in when you add more strings. Doublestops and tritone chords add harmony on the treble strings. Alternating the bass adds the second line of music. It certainly is like juggling in some ways. LOL I built a diddley bow for a friend's daughter too for a school project. Single string instruments can be a lot of fun because it becomes a game trying to find the notes. Enjoy.
Wouldn`t be too sure if Kenny playing round at a kids birthday party would not frighten the children away...
Such a creepy voice has he.
Such a rude person are you.

ahhh, is this code chromatic or diatonic? if diatonic, I can send you a songbook with lots of tunes...
