yeh sounds like i need a back rest, I notice at bri's recent do you wrent uing you falmers. I must admit I am finding it easier with a bass drum and highat set up.
or a foot snare.. what was ya foot snare bracket that was at Bri's do?
I seen you and Be going on about those harp mic clamps, one of my Achilles heels, I'm intrigued by the first one she listed that clamps up just under the mic screen.
Jezz Walker (Longshanks) who played at the open mike night on Friday, plays in a couple of Hastings bands, namely Tea Chest Blues and Wakin Snakes. He would be keen to get something going aswell, lets keep the idea on the back burner and make contact if an opportunity arises. I have had a lot of experience organising gigs and have worked with Hastings Rock producing events for them, I always ready to roll the sleeves up in the name of a good time. all the best, Jerry
Hope you didn't mind, thought it should be shared, you were very entertaining. I enjoyed the content of your songs, I think most people were distracted by your impish smile and drum machine to register the content, ha, ha.
Do you know of any plans to organise a regional event, I think the 'South should Rise' and get something organised, us Hastings lads are always happy to get things organised. Whaddya think?
Yeah the Shindig was a great day of music, good venue, good audience with a great cross selection of CBG players, all with different styles and at different levels of performance experience, your first gig for 20 years, me and Steve just starting out... playing on the same bill as Hollowbelly, Chicken Bone , Stumble Col, Brickdust & Pyno, not forgeting the guy who held it all together,MC for the day Brian, that's what's so good about all of this ,I'm really glad I made the effort to get there. Rock-On!!
Not sure if you got my last message. I don't see it anywhere. I had some internet issues. Anyways... I was wondering if I could get the measurement of the distance the strings are from the neck of the reso. I noticed you were picking as well as slide, so I guess they are closer than I'd expect for a slide CBG.
Sorry if you already got this.
Thanks again for all the help and keep those tunes coming.
Thanks a ton for the info. I really do appreciate it. I will get started on this build this month.... hopefully. I only hope it turns out this nice, so when I learn to play.... I can play this tune. Right now... I'm pretty much a noise maker. Man..... I just love how this riff just rolls along. It is just amazing to me. There's been a few songs over the years that just spin my head and this is one of them. I sure hope you're playing this in live sets.
BTW... I have been trying to login to backporchmojo.com over the past several days and it just craps out. I think there is something wrong with his website. It has some kind of GoDaddy page commercial on it.
Anyways..... Have a great time and I'll keep you in the loop on my CBG builds. I just built my first... from a kit. I think it came out OK, but I learned a few things along the way as well. Like, I'm probably going to stay away from button-type Piezo pups. I'm gonna shoot for a bar-type on my next Piezo attempt. I like the skull Bob Harrison makes. That looks cool.
First, I see why you have the handle of Lost Tone. Wise choice.
I really appreciate your response and openness. I am greatly interested in allot of the aspects from this video. The song is wonderful and the tone..... well, amazing. So, here goes. I already know about the cone you used. That's how I stumbled across your video. I had already planed on ordering one today. I'd like to know the following, if you don't mind.
Pickup Type
Box Size
Scale Length
Tuning
String Gauge
Slide Type
Amp & Settings
Any Special Effects or Stomp Boxes
Is this an old song by someone else
You wouldn't happen to have TAB's for it
Can I get a download of this video
I have a Pevey Vypyr 100W amp. I don't know if your familiar, but.. it can do just about anything a person could ask as far as amp modeling, stomps & effects, with control over all the parameters. With the settings you provide me, I can probably get it set real close..... and then it's up to me.
I can't thank you enough for the help. It's been a while since I have been moved by anything as much as I was this tune you have. It's been a rough couple years, but I wont go into that. Just know, you helped a dude out here, in a big way. I am new to CBG's to try and get back to my happy-place and things like this are making it work.
Thanks again. I can only hope that someday I can help you or someone else in as big of a way.
This video is the unboxing and the demonstration of a beautiful, six stringer built by Louie Lamanna. Join Louie and I June 15 at the second annual Pittsburg...
