If you are familiar with 6 string guitar chord shapes this is very helpful.

Good example is d chord shape on six string guitar it uses the e, b, and g strings

well there is no e string on my guitar so i form the chord with only two strings

i let the d string play open wala d chord.

the a chord is all strings fretted at the second fret.

just like middle of six string guitar.
